Description:

A large hardy herbaceous perennial with fine creamy white textured feathery blooms in late spring. Native of North America where it grows in moist woodland, it resembles a giant Astilbe reaching a height and spread of up to 2m. There are separate male and female plants. The male flowers are larger and more conspicuous than the female.

Site and Care:

It likes humus rich, moist, even boggy soil, of any type, in partial shade. It will tolerate full sun in this country provided there is consistent moisture. Propagation is by division in winter or seed.
